2 Funky Phresh Burlington Free Press Employees

This is Kathy Soulia, Senior Client Strategist. She is a fine mama of money making. She loves to tell people what to do in the office, but when she goes out to lunch at Rooney’s, they tell her what to eat. She lives to generate as much capital for her clients as she possibly can, but despises paperwork. She absolutely, positively would never ever re-name the Burlington Free Press because of the honor and distinction it carries. Her favorite drink is Magic Hat Blind Faith, which they no longer manufacture because they never asked her opinion of it.

Above is Rebecca Green, a Sales Executive. She rather enjoys words and saying them, especially to other people. She’s a rabid fan of uncooked fish and more specifically, Sakura Bana. She loves Barefoot wine, and its bargain basement price. If given the opportunity to rename the Burlington Free Press, she would rename it Burlington’s Best. The worst part of her job are the people who cry when she calls them about business matters. It happens several times per week.

Free Junior’s is Always a Pleasure

Adam, Bo, and Jason ate at Junior’s pizza for lunch this afternoon for free thanks Burlington Free Press’s own, Kathy Soulia (Senior Client Strategist).

We dove into a half meatlovers and half barbeque chicken medium pizza. This pizza had crisp crust, and the barbeque had a sweet tang to it.

Juniors Pizza

As we stuffed our faces we discussed politicians Ron Paul, Fred Thompson, and Al Franken. We are that interesting!

Adam insisted on having a fountain drink. Jason and Bo went for the Vitamin Water. Adam mocked Bo and Jason because they couldn’t get re-fills. What Adam didn’t know is that the Vitamin Water was so rich in vitamins, their thrust was fulfilled in two sips.

Junior’s won’t disappoint. If you decide to have a slice, we might be next to you sometime with our camera scheming for a new blog post. Or not…whatever.

2 Burlington Free Press Employees w/Great Smiles

Two BFP employees comin’ at you rapid fire…BOOM BOOM BOOM. Just hot off the press here they are…

Mellisa Hart

Meet Mellisa Hart. She is a graphic designer at the Burlington Free Press. Her favorite place to eat lunch is at the City Market (mmm, fresh food). She likes the variety her job and designing pages. Don’t give her any mundane tasks or she will hunt you down. If she could re-name the paper it would be called, the Burlington Awesome Free Press (rad dude). Hart is always downing any caffeinated flavored beverage. Her desk is also a mess-just wanted to point out the obvious.

Aki Soga

Aki Soga is an Editorial Page Editor. His favorite place to eat lunch is at his desk (overtime anyone?). His favorite newspaper is the Burlington Free Press (really?). He likes the process of writing opinion because it’s very engaging. He spent 15 years in the newsroom where there was no opinion. He detests copying and pasting letters to the editor (good thing I interviewed him while he was doing that because he might have thrown his computer out the window…incoming!!). If Soga had one utensil for the rest of his life it’d be chop sticks (I still can’t figure those dang things out!). His favorite drink is tap water (we got a wild one here!).

Beware, there might be an intern behind the corner ready to post your picture online. You only have so many vacation and sick days to take off. We will find you.

Christmas Decorations And Mid-Nineties Documents

You know how every office building has a place where hopes, dreams, and good cheer all go to die? It’s the kind of place that only serves as a fire hazard and a tribute to terrible memories. The Burlington Free Press has one of those places, and it’s located right behind Efe’s desk.

Free Press Closet

Going into the room, we didn’t know what to expect. It’s a menacing looking door that’s never illuminated, so it appears that there could be monsters of all sorts inside. We ended up discovering old files, Christmas decorations, and expired candy canes (which I ate and, thankfully, didn’t get sick from). Only God knows what else lies within the depths of this room.

What’s In The Fridge At The BFP?

Burlington is a place filled with folks who like healthy, natural foods.  There’s nothing wrong with that, but everyone needs some steak, a bucket of ice cream, and deep fried snickers every now and then.  While I was investigating the fridge, I was appalled at the lack of good eats.  Our sad little icebox is only filled with yogurts, vitamin waters, a slim fast, fruit, and some mysterious containers that look like they’ve been there too long.  It’s no wonder the newspaper biz is experiencing hard times when their crew starves themselves of simple pleasures like jumbo subs, whole lobsters, and pie.  Everyone knows that the more calories you take in, the more productive you are.  Anyone who says otherwise is probably one of those fancy-pants doctors or something.

The return of the Giant Fan At The Free Press

DSCN0369

You might be wondering what a giant, ghetto looking fan is doing inside an air conditioned building that houses the toast of Vermont journalism.  Today there was a terrible stench in the building due to the construction next door!  - and it had to be flushed out.  Love is in the air! - Thanks guys, really!
